Esta es la frase que dijo el director de la pelicula cuando fue entrevistado por
Cahiers Du Cinema.El Salvaje Bill,que empezo en el cine desde abajo,aunque lo que el queria era estar arriba en las nubes,pilotando aviones.Uno de los grandes pioneros,en todos los sentidos,del viejo Hollywood dorado.Ese fue Wellman.Punto y aparte.Lo cierto es que tras rodar esta pelicula,una vez mas,los productores decidieron que la pelicula no era lo que buscaban y decidieron ponerle una voz en off y hacer la tipica masacre en el montaje,por eso la frase del cineasta.¿Cuantas veces habra pasado esto en las carreras de los directores?El dinero mandando en el arte visto como diversion.El poco respeto al talento y al trabajo de los que saben su trabajo por que han crecido con el.Esta es una pelicula que se me quedo clavado en mis ojos infantiles desde la primera vez que la vi...La historia de unos tramperos y cazadores de castores en las tierras virgenes de Montana e Idaho.
Los tremendos paisajes naturales,su dia a dia,la relacion con los Indios(en este caso,los Pies Negros y los Nez Perce),realismo y atencion al detalle,aventura y humor a partes iguales,cine de las 4 de la tarde y los sueños.
Cualquier pelicula con Clark Gable vale la pena ser vista,y mas si esta acompañado de actores como Adolphe Menjou,John Hodiak,J.Carroll Naish,Jack Holt,Alan Napier,
George Chandler,Richard Anderson,Bobby Barber,Maurice Brierre,Tim Carey...y por supuesto,la bella Maria Elena Marques.
Hay una escena que se me quedo grabada por encima de todas las escenas gloriosas...Y es aquella en donde un risueño Clark Gable toca ese extraño instrumento que nunca he sabido muy bien como se llama,pero que era tipico del Oeste Norteamericano,y cantando aquello de...
